The Toronto Blue Jays put on an impressive power display during the three game set in Milwaukee but still lost two of three to the Brewers as the pitching staff got worked over. During the second game of the set the Blue Jays went back-to-back-to-back as Colby Rasmus, Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion hit homeruns in succession.
Unfortunately the patch job rotation was not up to the task as the Jays needed spot starts in two of the games, not exactly the formula for winning a series against a decent team. The one started who was expected to help this season Henderson Alvarez was once again hit hard while Jesse Chavez and Joel Carreno were ineffective in their limited innings.
CURRENT RECORD: 35-34, last place in the AL East, 6.5 games behind first place New York (41-27).
Here are the quick recaps and boxscores:
Game 1 – Brewers 7, Blue Jays 6 -Aramis Ramirez homerun the difference. Jose Bautista hits another HR.
Game 2 – Blue Jays 10, Brewers 9 – Impressive power display, Jose Bautista goes yard again and Rasmus hits two dingers.
Game 3 – Brewers 8, Blue Jays 3 – Brewers hit four homeruns in the rubber match.
UP NEXT: Off day Thursday than travelling to Florida to take on the Miami Marlins (33-35, -59 run differential).
