I notice that Marisnick is the third-youngest player on his AFL team. Only seven of the 38 players for the Salt River Rafters were born after 1990. Guys like Bryce Harper and Mike Trout sure make it tough to appreciate that so many players don’t even start to make noise until they’re 23 or 24.

It seems like marisnick is always floating around the Mendoza line. How is this kid considered our #2 prospect in the afl with stats like that? From what I can recall of your prospect reports that is where he hit all year long.

I think scouts simply love the total package of tools. But I agree his stats have been ok but nothing that stands out as leading me to believe he is a future star. He is still a young guy though.

im not sure what you’re basing that on. he’s a career .278 hitter in the minors with .351 OBP.

Probably the 233/286/336 line in Double-A that stands out. He is still super young and has a lot going for him but it is hardly an overstatement to say his stock dropped this year.

For 2012 in 489 ABs he slashed 249/321/399 – that just doesn’t scream star. At this point anyway. I still like his potential but this was an definite off year.
