Blue Jays Interested In Adding Jeremy Guthrie

The current outlook of the Blue Jays rotation is so bleak there are rumblings the team is considering adding Jeremy Guthrie.  Yeah, it’s that bad.  Guthrie, 33, is having an abysmal season out in Colorado currently sporting a 7.02 ERA.  In 59 innings, Guthrie has given up a whopping 85 hits (opponents are hitting .330) and has allowed 15 homeruns (2.3 HR/9) while striking out very few hitters (4.6 K/9).

The price is apparently minimal (obviously) and there is only one way for his season to go (hopefully) but this is clearly an emergency move should Alex Anthopoulos pull the trigger.  The latest rumour making the rounds are the cost would be firstbase prospect Mike McDade.

ZIPS projects Guthrie to post a 4.72 ERA, 4.88 FIP, 5.0 K/9 over 103 innings to finish the season.
